Help Search

Anyone who drives can contribute to finding Nick, including those familiar with the back country. Nick is an outdoor enthusiast, but there are limited vehicles that can traverse the forest service roads of our mountains. If you are one who can, please consider helping.

Our search is focused on finding Nick’s truck; we believe if we find the truck, we will find Nick.

The easiest way to consolidate data into one digital map is to track a route on an app.

I Already have a Tracking App

If you already have a tracking app that you know and love, use it. For the track/route to be compatible with our map, ensure that it can be exported as a .gpx file. GPX files can be submitted by email to [email protected]

I Don’t have a Tracking App

Neither did we.

We’ve identified the GAIA GPS app as one that is user-friendly. It also allows for a one week free trial.

Here are the simple steps needed to track and submit a route to us through GAIA:

  • Download the GAIA app for iOS/iPhone or Android.
  • Enable “location services” on your phone to allow the app to work
  • When ready to start your trip, make sure you are on the “Map” screen (icon on the bottom left). Tap the green “Record” button; the app will now record your route. Tap the same green button (now a timer counting up) when you arrive at your destination.
  • Select “Finish Track”
  • Title your track with your initials and the date (ie: KL – Aug 18)
  • Tap “Save”
  • Tap the three horizontal dots in the top right corner
  • Select “Export”
  • Select “GPX”
  • Select “Mail”
  • Email the file to [email protected]

Please know that your assistance means so much to us ❤️

Thank you!
